Welcome!

Why am I so passionate?

HI all!! I am Sam! I have been in the health care industry since I was 16. I have seen all sides of care including retail pharmacy, patient care, bedside nursing, practicing NP, and now growing in integrated health. I mention this because I feel that it gives me a unique perspective into, not only how the actual health care system in the US works, but how it can fail. I am a currently a practicing, passionate women’s nurse practitioner in Bloomington, IN. I spent 6 years, at the beginning of my nursing career, supporting mamas and babies on Labor and Delivery and I loved everything about it! I loved seeing how truly powerful our bodies are when it can function correctly… but my story does not start or stop there. After seeing so many beautiful deliveries, and many complex ones as well, I found a passion for supporting patients as naturally as possible. During this time I was dealing with my own frustrating health conditions that seemed to always be solidified by one “answer” …. anxiety. That didn’t sit well with me or explain the vast majority of my symptoms. Flash forward aprox 8 years to the postpartum period with my first daughter… que severe PPD/PPA and on the verge of psychosis… and I hid it…or so I thought. In my mind it was just my anxiety, and I didn’t need to hear that again…. But here was the deal…. I was SICK, I was scared, and I felt alone…. I had lost 40 lbs in 4 weeks, lost half of my hair, had constant racing heart and headaches, and so many other physical symptoms, that were “ruled out” as not being medical conditions. I was a nurse at the time…. and still felt medically helpless. So I started looking into on my own. I was in graduate school and had all the recourses available to me and I found a study on the effects of toxic chemicals in our products, and since I was struggling with my, “crown jewel”, my hair… I started there. I found Monat (if you need hair help check the link tab") and saw the research and knowledge their international medical committee had and que a deep, alarming rabbit hole into the difference in American guidelines and International guidelines. ( I have tons of recourses and will link them in each blog as we discuss them and on the link tab.)

By the time I “asked for help” most of my symptoms had returned to their “manageable” state, it wasn’t until 3 years later with my second and more physically severe postpartum period, that I finally demanded answers. All my physical symptoms were worse, my mental health was better but overall, I was unwell. Thankfully I got in with a friend and the real problem was revealed… “you have a thyroid problem”… but the answer was to take this pill. But it doesn’t stop there…. It took another 2 years of ups, downs, all around before I changed providers (at least 3 times looking for answers and getting shuffled around) all while continuing to do my own research, when I finally got in with an endocrinologist… and BAM… I had been mismanaged as low thyroid when actually…. I have HIGH thyroid or Graves Disease… are you dizzy yet… because I am… and I’m an NP.

That’s what lead me here, I was tired of too many hands in the pot, no real answers, and still feeling like crap without a plan to change it…. So, I came up with my own plan after hours of research, certification courses, trainings, and trial and error with myself. It has been a long journey... over 10 years to be exact, but I honestly believe that God set me on this path to help you!

Over the course of this Blog, I will share everything from the ground up. We will get down and dirty into the medical info and it will be broken down to help you not only learn but start to truly understand what we are looking for and how to heal it.

Are you ready to learn more?! Good! First thing lets just take a look at how you’re currently feeling and your current routines, take this assessment and hold on to it as we move forward!
